Chelsea tranfer rumours: Blues negotiating for James Rodriguez with Real Madrid

It is highly possible that the future of James Rodriguez lies away from Real Madrid

After Paul Pogba, the biggest name to be rumoured with a move from their club is of James Rodriguez. The Colombian does not know where his future lies as Real Madrid boss, Zinedine Zidane does not seem to rate the Colombian that much to give him a regular starting place. Rodriguez has been the subject of interest from Juventus but now it is being reported that Chelsea are the frontrunners to sign the 25-year-old.

Chelsea are rumoured to be in talks with James' representatives over a deal which is said to be worth €70 million. Real Madrid president Florentino Perez reportedly does not want to sell the player but with Zidane not utilising him as a regular player, it does make sense for Los Blancos to offload James while his stocks are high. No formal talks have taken place between the two clubs but Chelsea's interest is seeming to be strong, so talks are expected in the next couple of days.

With the emergence of Marco Asensio in the first team and along with the preference given to Isco ahead of James, the Colombian will find it tough to get into the starting lineup. Zidane earlier had said that he has no plans to sell James as he stated after the UEFA Super Cup, “James is here, I am happy with how he played and he will be staying here. I will always respond in the same way to that. I'm tired of having to give a response. My stance is not going to change."

Chelsea have done brilliant business this summer and James Rodriguez's arrival can be the icing on the cake. Conte too has confirmed that the blues will sign more players before the transfer window ends. "We are waiting for the right solutions to improve Chelsea. We need to sign some players because we are now a few players short. We are working together to find the right solution." he said.

Real Madrid have done their business early as they have confirmed that they won't sign anyone other than Alvaro Morata this summer. Chelsea, on the other hand, need at least two more signings as they appear to be thin on the defensive front. Kalidou Koulibaly, Ricardo Rodriguez, and Romelu Lukaku are the players linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in the coming week.
