The January transfer window is heating up with each passing day. Chelsea have been linked with a number of players but until now, only one player has signed on the dotted line. On that note, let's take a look at all the transfer stories involving Chelsea that made the news on January 18, 2018:
Antonio Conte ready to make an approach for Fernando Llorente
The Chelsea boss is looking to go back for his former employee Fernando Llorente after failing to land him last summer. The Independent has claimed that Antonio Conte is keen on signing a striker this month and is pondering over the idea of making a move for the Tottenham Hotspur man.
The Blues were linked with a move for the Spaniard in the summer only to be pipped by Spurs in a £12 million deal on deadline day. Llorente has failed to make a mark at the Wembley this season and might be keen on reuniting with his former Juventus boss.
Chelsea are in dire need of a quality backup for Alvaro Morata who has looked bankrupt of confidence in recent games. Michy Batshuayi has not impressed whereas a move for Andy Carroll has so far proved to be taxing.
If Llorente comes on board, he can prove to be a smart buy for Chelsea with the duo of him and Morata previously producing great results in Turin.
Chelsea to rival Manchester City for Jean-Michael Seri
Antonio Conte is reportedly eyeing another midfielder this month after already signing Ross Barkley for £15 million. The Sun claims that Chelsea have entered the race for Nice's Jean-Michael Seri and are ready to rival Manchester City and Paris Saint Germain for his signature.
The 25-year-old French midfielder was one of the best players in Ligue 1 last season as he helped Nice to qualify for the Champions League playoffs. He has a release clause of £35 million which can be termed peanuts in recent times.
Chelsea are looking for a commanding midfielder this month as the signing of Tiemoue Bakayako has not yielded the expected results.
Manchester City and PSG have been known admirers of Seri who, despite Nice's slump this season, has notched up solid numbers individually. He signed for Nice three years ago for a paltry sum of £750,000 and a deal would gift them a huge profit.
David Moyes scouts Michy Batshuayi at Stamford Bridge
The West Ham United boss took a short trip to Stamford Bridge last night and watched Chelsea live in action against Norwich City in the FA Cup. The Daily Mail has written in its report that Moyes was on a scouting mission in West London.
It is believed that the Hammers' boss was in the stadium to watch Michy Batshuayi live in action. West Ham are looking to sign a striker this month and have been linked with a loan spell for the Belgian striker.
He was seen taking notes during the game but might not have been mightily pleased by what he saw. Batshuayi scored a goal on his 50th appearance for Chelsea in a performance that was largely disappointing. The English tabloid has also revealed that if Chelsea make any bid for Andy Carroll, the Hammers will ask for Batshuayi to be included in the deal.
