Chelsea v Tottenham: Match preview

Chelsea will look to bounce back from the draw at Sunderland on Saturday against a Tottenham side that has an awful record at Stamford Bridge.

It’s been 25 years since Tottenham last won at the Bridge, but after coming from behind to win against Everton on Sunday, Spurs look to have turned a corner.

Chelsea on the other hand must manage without Diego Costa, who is suspended after receiving his fifth yellow card of the season at the weekend.

Chelsea team news

Jose Mourinho will look to add to Chelsea’s unbeaten streak so far this season with yet another win, which will equal the unbeaten record from the start of the 1924/25 season.

If against Tottenham we are 0-0 with 20 minutes to go, we are not going to play for the 0-0 to be undefeated at 21 matches. We are going to play matches to win and sometimes we will lose.

Nathan Ake is the only player in addition to Costa that is not included in the provisional squad.

With fixtures coming thick and fast this month, Mourinho will have to rotate the starting line-up at some point, however he is expected to field a strong side against the London rivals.

The first problem Mourinho will have to decide on is who will fill in for Costa in his absence. Both Loic Remy and Didier Drogba are capable to fill the gap.

Tottenham team news

Spurs are without Kyle Walker for this match, while Kyle Naughton, Emmanuel Adebayor, Etienne Capoue and Danny Rose all are doubts.

In-form midfielder Christian Eriksen pose their main threat going forward, but frontman Roberto Soldado should be confident after ending his goal drought against Everton on Sunday.

Sitting 9th in the table, Tottenham will look to get something from this match as they are well aware that they would lose momentum in their chase for a top four spot with defeat.

We believe we will win again, despite four of the six last matches between the teams ending in a draw. 2-0 is our prediction, but what are your thoughts ahead of the match?
