Chelsea fans worldwide will have the chance tonight to see the young Belgian player Kevin De Bruyne play in London for the first time. Whilst it’s the young player’s first visit to the Bridge, it is certainly not shaping up to be his last. Chelsea attempted to buy the youngster in the last transfer window, only for the deal to fall. What better opportunities to re-attract Chelsea’s interest will the young winger get then playing in front of the team he wants to join and putting on a stellar performance? Just not too stellar please Kevin, we want to win the game.
Andre Villas-Boas has been quoted as saying,
“He’s exceptionally gifted technically and reminds me of the old technical Belgian players like Enzo Scifo. We’ve not only scouted him but we’ve scouted numerous different players before. It doesn’t mean that all of them we scout will eventually join us.”
Whilst Genk boss Mario Been admitted,
“…it wouldn’t be a surprise if Kevin went to Chelsea. Everyone’s got his price.”
So this ChelseaChief.com writer is quite excited for De Bruyne’s first match and is keen to see whether the player can handle the limelight of the nation’s intolerable press! Good luck Kev!
As for Chelsea team news, Fernando Torres will be welcomed back into the team after serving most of his Premier League suspension (one more game to go), whilst Ramires looks certain to miss out after injuring himself when scoring against Everton on Saturday. Talk about no pain no gain. It’s also possible John Terry will be given the night off, considering Genk have only secured 1 point from their opening two European games this season and will hardly trouble the Blues tonight. Either the enigmatic David Luiz or a rare appearance for Brazilian defender Alex will line up alongside Ivanovic tonight.
