I have not been as confident that Chelsea would win the Premier League since the start of the 2005/2006 season.
With the “Interim One” gone and long forgotten, we have Jose Mourinho back, you can feel the happy vibe emanating from Cobham through everything the players and club do.
We now have the manager, players and attitude to challenge for the title properly for the first time in three seasons and I think we will go on and win it.
The Squad
In goal, Petr Cech is back to his best and we have brilliant cover in the form of Mark Schwarzer, should the former be unavailable or in need of rest.
Defensively, we are well covered on the flanks whilst we have plenty of options including John Terry in the center. After a rough couple of years he will be hoping to be more involved under the “Special One” should he remain injury free.
In midfield, we are spoiled for choice with Kevin De Bruyne and Michael Essien returning from loan and our record goalscorer Frank Lampard looking evergreen. This is before Mikel, Ramires and new signing Van Ginkel are added to the mix.
Our attacking players are amongst the best in the world with Juan Mata, Eden Hazard, Andre Schurrle and Oscar, the envy of the league, battling for just three places.
We have three strikers with experience (albeit in the past for some) of scoring regularly in the Premier League. This includes Romelu Lukaku, who will feel like a new signing compared to the player we saw glimpses of in 2011/2012 after a 17 goal season at West Brom.
We may even strengthen in this area before the window closes.
The Rivals
With the exception of Manchester City, who have gone on another spending spree, our rivals are the weakest they have probably ever been.
The Manchester clubs have brand new managers, Tottenham are bottle jobs and Arsene Wenger can’t even sign his own name at the moment let alone the quality needed to challenge so things are looking good.
Manchester United do not carry the same menace without Sir Alex Ferguson at the helm and I think we could see the end of Moyes by Christmas.
That being said, 38 games is a long time and there is a lot of football to be played, I am confident but only time will tell if this is justified.
