Chelsea will have to move on and continue their search for the right manager, as Diego Simeone signed a new contract with Atletico Madrid.
Simeone was seen as a suitable candidate to be the next manager at Stamford Bridge and it was reported that the Argentine was in talks with the Blues in December. On arrival, he would replace the current interim manager, Rafael Benitez who is set to leave the club at the end of the season.
But it seems that fate had others plans as the Atletico Madrid has been offered a deal that would see him continue his reign at the Vicente Calderón, leaving Chelsea to continue their quest to find a manager.
Simeone is the second manager to be approached by the English giants, and to have declined their offer. The first person was Pep Guardiola.
Atletico Madrid, who are currently in second place in the La Liga, are 11 points behind league leaders Barcelona and 2 points ahead of city rivals, Real Madrid. Having reached the finals of the Copa Del Rey, to face the Galacticos, it seems like Diego Simeone is working nothing less than wonders at the club.
