Irked at the attitude shown by Cristiano Ronaldo at a pre-match conference in a match between Real Madrid versus Guanzhou Evergrande. The Chinese Media lambasted the Real Madrid superstar for his arrogant behavior and has stated that the Real Madrid winger should hire a Public Relation company to teach him how to deal with media.
“He should hire a public relations company to teach him how to cope with the media”, said one of the journalists.
Real are on a pre-season tour to China to promote their brand in the most populated and one of the biggest economies of the world where football is hugely followed. But Ronaldo’s brief answers at the press conference on Tuesday could have the an opposite effect.
“He always seems selfish and arrogant and this behavior won’t help his cause in China. It might even hurt his sponsors Nike,” said Yan Qiang, vice-president of Titan Media, one of China’s leading sports publishers.
It all started when asked about his injury-prone teammate Kaka, Ronaldo simply said “Perfecto”.
To cheer up Ronaldo, one Journalist asked whether he changes his son’s nappies, Ronaldo replied with no interest in English saying “Of course, as a father it is normal to change the baby’s nappies.”
About his prospects of returning to EPL, Ronaldo who became the world’s most expensive player when he left Manchester United for Real in 2009 for £80 million, answered: “Maybe, why not? You never know.”
On his impression in Guangzhou, the arrogant Ronaldo said “very hot.”
This behavior of Ronaldo irked the Media and the fans to the extent that social network in China were flooded with hatred message for the Portugal international.
“I don’t know whether Ronaldo can be the World Footballer of the Year, but I am just sure he will be condemned for what he did at the news conference,” wrote an user at of popular web portal Netease.
Another fan wrote “Ronaldo is really good at football, and good-looking, but he is really not that modest.”
Another fan was more blunt on Ronaldo who simply wrote “Look at you! C. Ronaldo, just go home!”
