Aston Villa forward Gabriel Agbonlahor has labeled teammate Christian Benteke as the best player in the league so far this season.
“Christian is world class – everyone sees that. This season he has been the best player in the league,’ said the England international. I knew he wouldn’t have that so-called second season syndrome. As long as he gets the service he needs then he will score goals anywhere. The position I am now playing in, it is good to score goals but just as important to get the assists,” Agbonlahor said.
Benteke, who was nominated for the PFA Young Player of the Year award last season, was on the verge of leaving Villa Park in the summer but eventually stayed. The Belgian started the season in style with four goals from four matches so far.
Despite rumors of Benteke moving in the summer Agbonlahor also said that the team’s success depends on Benteke.
“With a prolific scorer like Christian we are going to win more games than not,” he said.
