Hello and welcome to Sportskeeda's daily Real Madrid transfer roundup.

As the winter transfer window approaches, Real Madrid have been keeping a keen eye on possible players to invest in. Los Blancos are currently level on points with La Liga leaders Barcelona but sit second in the table standings due to goal difference. As compared to last season, the 2019-20 season has gone considerably well for them.

Despite seeing an improvement in their domestic form, Zinedine Zidane's side is expected to make a few more signings to further reinforce the depth of the squad. On that note, let's look at the latest news and gossips surrounding the club.

Interest in signing Christian Eriksen continues

With Tottenham Hotspur increasingly unable to tie Christian Eriksen down to a new contract, Real Madrid are said to be maintaining their interest in the midfielder. According to Marca, Los Blancos have been tracking the Danish international for a while but the Lilywhites had previously demanded an exorbitant price for him. Now, the 27-year-old is set to be a free agent in the summer and is allowed to hold talks with other clubs in January.

James Rodriguez advised to leave

It has been revealed by AS that Colombia's national team coach Carlos Queiroz had asked James Rodriguez to leave Real Madrid for the sake of the 2020 Copa America competition. The 28-year-old had spent two seasons on loan at Bayern Munich before finally returning to Los Blancos in the summer.

Since his return to Madrid, he has made just seven La Liga appearances and scored one goal. Unfortunately, the forward is currently out with an injury. Queiroz reportedly said,

"He needed him to leave, to go to whatever team he could, that he needed him to play.”

With the Colombian international set to return after the winter break, he might then decide whether to leave Real Madrid for more playing time.

Brahim Diaz poised for an exit

Brahim Diaz has struggled to break into Zinedine Zidane's matchday squad this season but the player yearns for more playing time. As such, the 20-year-old could leave Madrid in January in search of a club which will provide him with more game time. One of the clubs Diaz is keen on is Deportivo Alaves. It is reported that Alaves believe they can complete the deal given their good relationship with Florentino Perez.

However, the midfielder's agent explained that,

"It's not just Alaves, there are many teams that I know are interested in his services."

It appears that Diaz and his agent are on the lookout for a move out of Madrid in the upcoming transfer window.

Perhaps a couple of years back, it would have been possible for Lewandowski to join Real Madrid. However, now the striker had admitted that with his age, he is too old to make the move to the Spanish capital. Speaking to the media, the Bayern Munich forward said,

“Five years or six years ago there also was something... in the air.”
“It’s too late. I am 31. I wanna play a few years longer.”

The 31-year-old Polish international has been on a superb form this season, scoring 27 goals in 21 appearances across all competitions.
