City in pursuit of Ronaldo or Falcao?

Real Madrid CF v FC Barcelona - Copa del Rey - Semi Final First Leg

Manchester City have decided to save the money they received for the deal of Mario Balotelli to AC Milan to make a huge splurge to land either Cristiano Ronaldo or Radamel Falcao. Although City pocketed nearly £20 million from AC Milan for the transfer of Balotelli to the Italian side, Roberto Mancini has found it difficult to replace his former Italian striker.

Reports suggest that City have turned their attention to the summer transfer window with a view to sign either the restless Ronaldo from Real Madrid, or the almost-ready-to-quit Falcao from Atletico Madrid. It is most likely that either one of these two players will make their way to the Etihad next season.

The club’s Chief Executive Officer, Ferran Soriano, and Director of Football, Txiki Begiristain- both former Barcelona players – have been given the duty of making a big name for the club, which means an all-out war for the Champions League title next season is crucial.

There are only two clubs in the world who can afford Ronaldo – City being one of them and the other is PSG. Real Madrid may be ready for let go of their superstar instead of extending his contract that sees him earning £9 million-a-year.

If Manchester City are able to acquire the Portuguese international, the club’s profile would sky-rocket. But Ronaldo may be a little hesitant of joining the Club having spent six years with Manchester United.

However, Manchester City would consider Radamel Falcao as a more suitable alternative. Falcao would be available at lower price, but can still bring a ‘mega-star’ status to the Etihad. But the club maybe all set for stiff competition to sign the Colombian star, as Chelsea are also looking to sign him.
