Clarence Seedorf

Former A. C. Milan player and Legend Clarence Seedorf has announced his retirement from football and is rumoured to be announced as the new manager of AC Milan.

The 37-year old has reportedly been named the new manager after the Italian club moved swiftly to install a replacement following the sacking of Massimiliano Allegri on Monday.

The former Holland star had been plying his trade in Brazil for Botafogo after leaving Italy in 2011, and is set to be handed the charge of improving the club’s fortunes. Seedorf has won two Champions League titles with the Italian giants in a 10-year career at the San Siro.

Reports suggest that Seedorf has called a press conference for 3pm in Rio De Janeiro where he is expected to confirm his new role.

The midfielder was the first player to win the Champions League with three different clubs – Ajax Amsterdam in 1995, Real Madrid in 1998 and AC Milan in 2003 and 2007. He has also represented Inter Milan and Sampdoria.

Milan currently lie 11th in the Serie A, 30 points behind leaders Juventus and 20 points off the final Champions League berth.
