Coal India has partnered with former Indian football captain Baichung Bhutia to scout for young talents in the districts of West Bengal with an aim to unearth talent which could play for India in the 2017 FIFA Under-17 World Cup. As part of the programme, there will be an inter-district tournament in the state and the most talented lot would be imparted training by Coal India, its director R. Mohan Das said during a media interaction.

"(Baichung) Bhutia is a partner in the programme and we are looking at a long-term association," R. Mohan Das said. The programme will be finalised within a month's time, R. Mohan Das added.

R. Mohan Das further said each of their nine subsidiaries have been asked to identify two sport disciplines and develop a Coal India team.
