Corinthians grabbed three points with a 2-0 win over rivals Gremio in the Brazilian league on Wednesday.
The deadlock in a rather dull opening half was finally broken in the 34th minute as Dida could only deflect Danilo’s shot into Emerson’s path and the forward duly dispatched from close range to put home side ahead.
Former AC Milan striker Alexandre Pato came off the bench in the second half, and he wrapped up the win when he headed in from the close range in the 80th minute after Paulo Andre Cren Benini’s header ricocheted off the arm of Gremio defender Alex Teles and towards the goal.

The win moves Corinthians up to eighth in the table, while Gremio remain in seventh.
