Costa Rica goalkeeper Keylor Navas has played down speculation linking him with moves to Arsenal and Liverpool, insisting he is focused on his country’s upcoming World Cup quarter-final, reports the Daily Express.
Navas has been excellent for Costa Rica at the World Cup and has played a vital role in their unexpected success so far. Costa Rica finished top of Group D, which also featured England, Italy, and Uruguay. They then beat Greece in the second round, with Navas making a number of crucial saves, including the decisive penalty in the shoot-out to decide who would go on to face the Netherlands in the quarter-finals.
He was superb for Levante in La Liga last season, and has continued that form at the World Cup, attracting a number of leading clubs across Europe.
Arsenal require a new goalkeeper to replace Lukasz Fabianksi, who joined Swansea on a free transfer this summer. Liverpool want to bring in someone to challenge Simon Mignolet for the number one spot at Anfield, as Pepe Reina is set to leave, with Napoli, PSG, Galatasaray and Fenerbahce all interested in the Spain international.
As well as the interest from the Premier League, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid could offer him the chance to remain in Spain.
Despite the speculation surrounding his future, Navas insists he is only focusing on performing well for Costa Rica. He said: “I’m facing everything with ease.
“There are more important things at this time for the honour of the country.
“For now I just want to do things right and help [Costa Rica] in everything I can.”
Navas made 141 saves in La Liga last season, more than any other goalkeeper.
