Cristiano Ronaldo believes Gareth Bale will come good at Real Madrid and thinks that too much pressure has been forced onto him following his record-breaking £86 million move.
The 24-year-old moved to Madrid in the summer, breaking Ronaldo’s record as being the most expensive player in history but has not lived up to his enormous price-tag yet.
The winger is yet to make a proper impact in Spain due to a series of niggling injuries and has not completed a full 90 minutes yet.
“I think Gareth Bale has done well,” Ronaldo told Sky Sports.
“He had a difficult time because he didn’t do a pre-season. I understand that and if you speak with him you can see he is very excited to help the team, but it is better to leave him alone and not add pressure.
“He is a fantastic player, a fantastic boy and he always wants to learn.”
Ronaldo certainly has faith in Bale who came off the bench at the weekend to earn Madrid a penalty in their 2-0 win over Malaga.
The Portuguese forward has also rubbished suggestions that he and Bale cannot play together due to their similar style.
“I think all the good players can play together. I want to play with good players, no matter who they are, and I think we can win important things together,” he said.
In nine La Liga games this season, Ronaldo has already amassed a staggering total of 57 shots. Thirty five of which have been on target – a 61% success rate.
