Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo was seen attempting to break a world selfie record ahead of the premiere of his movie ‘Ronaldo’ on Monday night. The charismatic Portuguese was at his creative best again only this time it was with his cell phone rather than a football.
The movie is reportedly about his life and upbringing and follows him throughout the 2014/15 campaign, a year in which he won the prestigious Ballon d’Or. It is believed to contain quotes from several of world football’s big names on Ronaldo and also his own experiences since his childhood.
Amid talking to reporters, interviews and meeting his countless fans on the red carpet ahead of the premiere of the documentary, Ronaldo sprung a pleasant surprise for the fans as he lined up his supporters to take selfies with him in a venture to break the world record for the most selfies taken in three minutes.
The present record is held by former WWE and Hollywood star Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. His record stands at 105 selfies in the allotted three minutes at a rate of 0.58 selfies per second!
The premiere was graced by some of the most well-known figures in world football. Some among them were Ronaldo’s former manager Sir Alex Ferguson, former teammate and TV pundit Gary Neville and his agent Jorge Mendes and most notably people from his old Manchester United days.
The official outcome of Ronaldo’s selfie record is still to be released and there will definitely be a lot of fans eagerly waiting for the official announcement. Additionally, if anyone could break the record, it would most certainly be the Portuguese star who is one of the most followed figures on the social network.
The Portugal captain is currently being rested for his country’s friendlies against Russia and Luxembourg during the upcoming international break.
