What’s the story?
Cristiano Ronaldo’s dominance in the Serie A continues, as he is now leading in both goals and assists in the Italian league.
In case you didn’t know…
The Portuguese has been scoring goals for fun following his big-money move from Real Madrid to Juventus last summer. Ronaldo has lived up to the expectations and he's gradually guiding Juventus to an eighth successive league title.
On Friday, the former Manchester United star was again on the scoresheet as the Italian champions romped to a 3-0 win over a hapless Frosinone side.
Ronaldo had a hand in two of the goals, setting up Paulo Dybala for Juve’s first, before netting the club’s third goal to seal the result.
As it stands, the 34-year-old is not only scoring the goals but has also proven that he can create them for his teammates as well.
The heart of the matter
Ronaldo’s goal against Frosinone was his 19th in the league this season and it makes him top-scorer in the Italian top flight. He is currently two goals above AC Milan’s Piatek, who has 17 Serie A goals.
Meanwhile, the Portuguese is also leading in terms of assists in the Serie A. By assisting Dybala’s goal, Ronaldo’s took his assist tally in the league to eight, putting him joint-top of the charts with winger Suso.
For the majority of his career, Ronaldo has been known to be a goal scorer, but currently, he is both the top-scorer and top assister in the Serie A.
What’s next?
Juventus will be in action in midweek, as they travel to face Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League round of 16 first-leg.
Having played and scored many times against the Spanish side, Ronaldo will hope to continue his good form against Diego Simeone’s side.
