Cristiano Ronaldo will sign a contract with Real Madrid that will keep him at the club until 2021. The Portuguese forward had previously expressed his desire to stay at the club even wanting to retire here and his request has been gracefully accepted by the club.
He will follow the likes Luka Modric, Gareth Bale, Lucas Vasquez and others in extending his stay at the Bernabeu. Bale is now reportedly the highest paid player at the Bernabeu overtaking Ronaldo's wages.
It remains to be seen if Ronaldo will once again earn top dollar when he signs that contract. Knowing his status and mannerisms he will demand nothing less than being the highest paid player in the team.
Ronaldo even said before that he would like to play at Madrid until he's 40. He hasn’t quite received a 10-year contract but it’s still a very lengthy one. The new deal now means he will stay at the Bernabeu until he’s 36.
Here is the official statement from Real Madrid
“The official event for the renewal of Cristiano Ronaldo's contract will take place tomorrow, Monday 7 November at 1:30pm in the presidential box at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium.
The Portuguese forward will extend his contract until 30 June 2021 at the event attended by club president Florentino Pérez and the player himself”
Ronaldo’s form still hasn’t improved despite a hat-trick in between a couple of games. The forward has been struggling in front of goal and has also caused some controversy in the last few weeks or so.
The superstar is supposedly dividing teammates in the dressing room with Toni Kross and James Rodriguez unhappy with the player’s attitude. He reportedly had a bust-up with James on the training ground with Kroos showing his frustration on Ronaldo’s reluctance to pass it to him during one of the games.
But Zidane has kept faith in his main man and believes he will find his way out of this rut. For a player of his quality, it should be only a matter of time before he starts finding the back of the net again.
Bale inspires Madrid again
Despite Ronaldo not being in the best of form Gareth Bale is making up for it with his brilliant performances. He helped Madrid to a 3-0 win against Leganes with an inspired performance scoring twice with Alvaro Morata adding a third.
Madrid are top of the table and are 5 points ahead of second-placed Barca who play Sevilla later today
