Juventus' centre-back Giorgio Chiellini has heaped praise on his Portuguese teammate Cristiano Ronaldo. The talismanic defender thinks that the inclusion of Cristiano Ronaldo in the squad makes Juventus Champions League contenders.

Cristiano Ronaldo guided Real Madrid to three consecutive Champions League titles in 2016,2017 and 2018. After spending nearly a decade at Real Madrid, Ronaldo joined Juventus at a fee of €100m in search of a new challenge.

Cristiano Ronaldo is already making an impact at his new home and has promised to do everything he could to win the Champions League with Bianconeri. The forward has scored 15 goals in 25 appearances for Bianconeri in all competitions.

The 33-year-old forward scored twice in the Champions League final of 2017 against his current club Juventus. Chiellini also was the part of the squad that lost 2017 final.

The heart of the matter

Chiellini in his interview with BBC Sport opened up on Juventus' Champions League hopes and how Cristiano Ronaldo will help in achieving that.

"Cristiano scored many, many, many times against us and he broke my dreams many times - in Cardiff, in Madrid, in Turin,", said the defender

"Before, the Champions League was a dream. Now it is a target because Cristiano is the best player in the world and we need him to make the last step.", the 34-year-old added.

"It's the personality of Cristiano. He has fantastic skills in the field but out of the field, his attitude - how he works, how he prepares for the match, how he lives every day of his life - can help us. The team has changed.", the 2006 World Cup winner.said.

What's next?

Juventus will face AC Milan in the final of Supercoppa Italiana on December 16.

Bianconeri will start their quest to win the Champions League for the first time since 1996 when they face Atletico Madrid in less than a month in the Round of 16.
