What's the story?
Juventus superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo, has sent a short and classy goodbye message to Massimiliano Allegri, as it was announced that the Italian will be leaving the club at the end of the current campaign.
In case you didn't know...
Allegri's leaving will come as a shock to many because the Italian has enjoyed unprecedented domestic success in the Italian top flight since he took charge of the Bianconeri in 2014. Under his guidance, the Old Lady won five Serie A trophies, four Coppa Italia titles, and two Supercoppa Italiana titles.
Allegri had a year left on his contract, but the failure of Juventus in their quest for European glory played a major role in his departure. The Italian tactician was not able to guide Juventus to a Champions League title, despite the fact that Juventus played two finals during his tenure.
Juventus announced that Allegri will leave at the end of the current campaign as they search for a new coach.
A statement from Juventus reads:
“Massimiliano Allegri will not be on the Juventus bench for the 2019-2020 season. The coach and the president, Andrea Agnelli, will meet the media together at tomorrow’s press conference – Saturday 18 May, at 2 pm in the press conference hall of Allianz Stadium.”
Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo played a crucial role in his debut season in the Italian top flight. Ronaldo was named 'Serie A Player of the season' for his exploits. The Juventus star racked up 21 goals and 8 assists in the Serie A which helped the Old Lady lift their eighth consecutive league title.
The heart of the matter
Ronaldo played under Allegri for just one season but left a classy goodbye message on his Twitter account.
Ronaldo tweeted:
"Thank you Mister!"
"We only lived one year together but it was exceptional because besides being a great coach, you are a great man. It was a pleasure to work with you!"
What's next?
Having already won the Serie A title recently, the season is virtually over for Juventus. The Old lady will take on Atlanta and Sampdoria in their remaining fixtures of the campaign.
