Manchester United revealed on their website that new signing Angel Di Maria will wear the No. 7 shirt.
The Argentine winger completed a £59.7m move from Real Madrid and could make his debut away at Burnley FC this weekend.
The last player to wear the No.7 shirt for the Red Devils was Valencia in the 2012/13 season, but he switched back to No.25 last season, leaving it vacant.
Di Maria: Ronaldo told me about the importance of the No.7 shirt
“I am aware of its importance,” Di Maria said.
“Cristiano Ronaldo spoke to me at Real Madrid and explained how important it is. I want to wear the shirt and do as much as I can for the club, like Ronaldo did.
“The club also wanted me to wear the no.7 shirt and I hope I can live up to it.”
The famous No.7 shirt has been worn by club legends like George Best, Bryan Robson, Eric Cantona, David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo himself.
