French outlet Le Parisien, attempted to shed some light on the conversation between Cristiano Ronaldo and Laurent Blanc on the sidelines after Real Madrid beat Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 at Santiago Bernabeu in the Champions League. If the report as conveyed by the Daily Mail is to be believed, the Portuguese forward told the PSG coach that he would love to work with him
Over the past week, speculation about Cristiano Ronaldo’s future has been rife. The footballing superstar’s refusal to commit his future to his current club Real Madrid reportedly saying, “I will not close the door to any league or team,” has not helped the rumours. PSG have been one of the touted destinations for the 30-year-old and his conversation with Blanc and acknowledgement of the owner Nasser El-Khelaifi after facing them earlier this week have added more fuel to the fire.
Now Le Parisien have reported that the Real Madrid talisman told the French coach, “Your team play very well. I would love to work with you,” after Rafael Benitez’s side beat the Parisians on Tuesday.
PSG have continued to grow as a force in Europe under the stewardship of the former Manchester United and now have added former Red Devil Angel Di Maria to boost their chances in Europe. If they do manage to sign Ronaldo, it will be the crowning jewel in their push for European glory after having established their domestic dominance.
The Portuguese captain’s more immediate concern, however, will be the upcoming tie against Sevilla on Sunday. He along with the team will look to ensure that they do not slip up and concede the momentum to Barcelona who’re now on the up in the lead up to the El Clasico later this month.
There is also an international break after this weekend of games that might see Ronaldo get some rest ahead of the crunch clash against Barcelona on the other side of the break as Portugal will only play friendlies during the break as they have sealed Euro 2016 qualification.
However, this rumour about Ronaldo’s future at Real Madrid refuses to go away. It may be one that has some truth to it. All we know so far though, is speculation it may well also be the case that the Portuguese star is taking the mickey out of the rest of us and all he told Blanc was that the weather in Spain is better than France!
