According to Forbes magazine, the most powerful footballer, in terms on yearly earnings, social media presence and impact on their field of work, is Cristiano Ronaldo. Forbes recently came out with their list of 100 most powerful celebrities of the world where 16 were athletes, out of which Ronaldo was ranked as the most powerful amongst the footballers while his overall rank was that of 30. The other footballer on the list is Lionel Messi who ranks in at 45. Earning $80 million annually already, the Portuguese striker recently signed a new contract with Real Madrid worth more $200 million. Adding to all of this, he earns about $28 million from his endorsement deals with Nike, Samsung, Fly Emirates and many other brands.

The Madrid Superstar is good looking, popular all over the globe and possesses a set of skills that shreds defenses apart. He is also pretty active on social networking sites, posting photos, tweets and is also seen around the world in huge events with other celebrities for company. It’s easy to see how he ranks so high on the list, having friends, fans and followers almost all over the world.

However, the most powerful footballer may not be in such good spirits, following Portugal’s dismal journey in the world cup. The Portuguese national side could not even get through their group stage matches and have been ousted from this World Cup and Ronaldo himself, missed so many golden opportunities to make a difference while playing in Brazil. Although, maybe seeing his name rank in such a list, that too above Messi, might have made him feel better.
