Cristiano Ronaldo's agent denies claims he will move to PSG

Cristiano Ronaldo’s management has dismissed any talk of the player moving to PSG.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s manager has quickly denied any rumours that the player could be on his way to Paris-Saint Germain this summer. Reports surfaced earlier this week that PSG would be willing to break the bank in order to secure the services of the Portuguese superstar. The reports claimed the French club would be willing to pay him an astronomical £250,000 a week in wages after tax, the equivalent of £500,000 a week in England.

The reports emerged after several publications claimed that Ronaldo travelled to Paris last week and met PSG owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi, who apparently wants Ronaldo to be the successor to Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

According to magazine France Football, Ronaldo took a private jet last week to meet Al-Khelaifi, and PSG manager Laurent Blanc also apparently told the 31-year-old “I would love work with you.” The magazine also claimed that it was the fifth time Ronaldo had met with the PSG owner.

But a spokesperson for Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes, moved swiftly to deny the claims by providing a short and blunt statement.

"Cristiano and PSG is a non-story," they said.

Mendes also personally told COPE that it was “impossible” for Ronaldo to leave Los Blancos after reiterating in November that the player would be ending his career at Real Madrid.

Ronaldo has been consistently linked with PSG as he gets older and draws closer to the end of his career, but neither player or the teams involved have suggested that a move could happen.

Manchester United have also shown interest in reacquiring Ronaldo, who was transferred to Madrid in 2009 for a then record of £80 million. Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is also keen to see the former Red Devil back in a United shirt, but the chance of that happening has become even more unlikely with the recent comments claiming the player will not leave Real Madrid.

Since joining Madrid, Ronaldo has cemented his place as one of the best players in the world and has won the Ballon d'Or three times. He is also the first player in football history to score 50 goals in five consecutive seasons and is the highest ever scorer in the Champions League and for Real Madrid.

Ronaldo single handedly took Real Madrid through to the Champions League semi-finals last week after scoring a hat-trick against Wolfsburg. He also scored his 31st goal in La Liga last weekend and is leading the way to this year’s Pichichi, with Suarez close behind on 27 league goals.

With Barcelona’s recent drop in form, Madrid are sitting just one point behind the league leaders with five games to go, and Ronaldo will look to close the gap in their next game against Villarreal.
