New footage has been released by the Portuguese National Football Team on their social media platforms, that shows an extremely emotional Cristiano Ronaldo making a winning speech in the Portuguese locker room. The Real Madrid striker, unfortunately, had to be substituted off in the first half but his rousing speech at the end of a spectacular game shows how much it really meant to him.
The video released almost four months after the historic win, shows a shirtless and an extremely emotional Ronaldo pouring his heart out. He first pointed at the coach and began. “I would like to thank this man right here. First of all, without him, none of this would be possible. Second, to all the players and the staff everyone involved in this conquest.”

He compared Portugal’s win to the happiest moment of his life, even over his individual success. That really is hardly surprising, considering a trophy with the national team would further propel him ahead in the Messi vs Ronaldo debate. “No one believed in Portugal but the truth is we made it. All of us. We did it. I am very happy, this is one of the happiest days of my life. Forget the individual trophies, Champions League, this one right here, is the happiest moment of my life.”
“I have cried 3 or 4 times already. My brother had to tell me to calm down. And I said "Hugo I can't". It's true, from the bottom of my heart, I swear on my son's life.”
The Real Madrid star also reiterated the fact that this indeed was the trophy that was missing. ”I could repeat this 100 times, I am so happy. This is the trophy that was missing. Thanks to all of you, players, all the staff and you again coach. All the faith you had, honestly it touched me,” said Ronaldo, as the cameras panned to Portuguese manager Fernando Santos. He didn’t forget the medical staff, security and his brother either. Thanking all of them individually.
