Hello and welcome to Sportskeeda’s daily transfer news and rumours roundup for 22nd April 2017. Clubs are entering the business end of the season and as always we cover the biggest stories doing the rounds today in our roundup. Today’s major stories surround both the Premier League and La Liga giants. On that note, let’s take a look at the major stories today. Let’s head straight in.
Florentino Perez wants Galactico before elections, Sergio Ramos set for Real Madrid extension
According to Goal, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is looking to sign another Galactico ahead of the summer elections at the Santiago Bernabeu. Perez’s strategy of buying top players has worked well for the club as they look set to return to the summit of Europe again this season.
According to the report, Perez is eyeing a big name player ahead of the elections with Chelsea’s Eden Hazard, Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe and cross-town rivals Atletico’s Antoine Griezmann amongst the names being mentioned. Expect Real Madrid to break the bank to sign their next Galactico as Perez looks at re-appointment at the Bernabeu.
Meanwhile, Marca in Spain reports that the Madrid club are planning on giving Sergio Ramos a one-year contract extension. Ramos’ current deal expires in 2020 and Real Madrid are looking at tying their captain down for another season. Rumours of Ramos leaving for Manchester United don’t seem to go away but Real are looking at keeping their captain at the club for the foreseeable future.
Pep Guardiola wants Antoine Griezmann at Manchester City
Pep Guardiola and Manchester City have set their sights on Antoine Griezmann and have now joined in the race to sign the French attacker. Griezmann has been the subject of much speculation regarding a possible move to City’s direct rivals Manchester United but it now looks as though the Citizens are looking to hijack that move.
According to the Daily Mail, the Frenchman could cost upwards of £75 million, with both United and Chelsea also interested in securing his signature.
Chelsea send scouts to watch Kylian Mbappe with PSG also sniffing around
According to The Sun, Chelsea sent scouts to watch Monaco’s young starlet Kylian Mbappe in action in midweek in the Champions League. The London club are certainly looking at adding some star names to their squad ahead of next season.
Mbappe has also attracted interest from Manchester United, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Arsenal and Real Madrid. Paris Saint-Germain are also sniffing around with L’Equipe in France reporting that the Paris club are willing to spend €40 million on signing the hotshot. The young attacker has scored 22 goals for Monaco this season helping the club to the Champions League semi-finals and is in heavy demand across Europe.
Arsenal identify Mesut Ozil replacement
Arsenal have identified Arda Turan as a potential replacement for Mesut Ozil with the German touted for a move away from the Emirates this summer. The Turkish winger Turan has failed to establish himself at Camp Nou in his time at Barcelona and Arsenal are keen to bring the Turk to England. According to CNN Turk via The Sun, Arsenal are looking at adding Turan to their roster very soon and are set to table a bid for the winger when the transfer window opens.
Liverpool close in on Robertson
According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool are set to tie up an £8 million deal for Hull City’s Andy Robertson. Jurgen Klopp is in the market for a left-back having played James Milner in that position for the whole season and wants to provide the Englishman with some competition. The Scotland international Robertson fits the bill perfectly and is available for a bargain price.
Done Deal – Juve sign Uruguayan teenager Bentacur
Juventus have completed the signing of Uruguayan teenager Rodrigo Bentacur from Boca Juniors. The midfielder was linked with a move to Real Madrid earlier but he has now joined the Turin club for €9.5 million.
The statement on Juventus’ website read: “Juventus are pleased to announce the completion of the transfer of Rodrigo Bentancur from Boca Juniors on a five-year deal from 1 July 2017 until 30 June 2022.”
