Daily Transfer Updates: 28th August

Luka Modric has finally completed his dream move to Real Madrid.

Modric finally exits Tottenham as Spurs target triple signing

One of the longest running transfer sagas has finally come to an end with Luka Modric finally completing his cherished move to Real Madrid.

The Spanish club will pay up to 42 million Euros including add-ons for the Croatian playmaker. Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy was insistent that his 40 million Pound transfer fee demand be met for Modric’s transfer but has now settled for a slightly lesser fee after the 26 year old repeatedly asked for a transfer.

Spurs are now looking to use the cash received from the transfer to bolster their squad with Hugo Lloris, Willian and Joao Moutinho the primary targets.

Goal.com reports that a deal for Willian is close with an initial 11 million Pound for the attacker rejected by Shaktar Donetsk, but both parties remain keen for a deal to happen.

Spurs will also reportedly target Joao Moutinho as a natural replacement for Modric but want Porto to lower their $45 million valuation of the player. Hugo Lloris is another target for Spurs as a younger replacement for 41-year-old Brad Friedel.

Marseilles president Jean Michel Aulas has confirmed an approach from Tottenham for the shot stopper and declared that any move would now depend on the 25 year old France international himself.

Inter complete Alvaro Pereira signing

Inter Milan have completed a 13.5 million Euro move for Porto left-back Alvaro Pereira.

The 26 year old was a long term target for Chelsea earlier but has now signed a contract with the Nerazzuri, which will keep him at the club until 2016.

Manchester City planning late splash of cash

ESPN reports that Manchester City are planning late bids to bolster their defense and midfield.

The cash-rice club have signed just Jack Rodwell in the summer so far and a deal for Scott Sinclair is close to completion.

ESPN now reports that the club may make late bids for Javi Marinez, whose move to Bayern Munich has run into trouble over Athletic Bilbao‘s demands and also Javi Garcia, as an alternative to Daniele De Rossi.

Benfica’s Garcia has a release clause of 24 million Pounds which won’t trouble City and Martinez will cost them a further 40 million Euros. Considering City’s already strong midfield with the likes of Yaya Toure, Gareth Barry, Samir Nasri and David Silva, one has to wonder at the logic driving the above moves.
