Danny Welbeck to sign new deal

Reportedly, Manchester United marksman Danny Welbeck is set to put pen to paper on a new and lucrative five year contract with the Old Trafford club. The 21-year-old was phenomenal for Manchester United last season and was selected to play for his native England in the European Championships in Poland and Ukraine this year.

Danny Welbeck made his first team debut for Manchester United in a 3–1 victory over Middlesbrough at Old Trafford in the Football League Cup Third Round back in September 2008. Although he was a promising young player, Welbeck found first team opportunities hard to come by and he was loaned out to Steve Bruce´s Sunderland at the start of the 2010-11 campaign.

Sir Alex Ferguson: “Danny Welbeck can be a top player but obviously he´ll have to improve his goalscoring. He got nine goals last season but if you´re going to be a top striker you have to get twenty goals or above. I think he will do that.”
