Manchester United playmaker Darren Fletcher made his first appearance in nine months in the 2–1 defeat against Scottish Premier League side Aberdeen at Pittodrie in Neil Simpson’s testimonial on Tuesday evening. The Scotland international came on as a substitute for summer signing Nick Powell in the 60th minute of the encounter.
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has previously told the press that he did not know when Darren Fletcher would be back in first team action. Sir Alex Ferguson: “It has been quiet progress for Darren Fletcher. He joined in training a couple of weeks ago and it is one of those situations where you say let us see how he does because he has had a really difficult time. Therefore, I was not really placing too much hope in it but let us see how he does. He has got to the stage where he feels he needs a game.”
