Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher is to be rewarded for his return to fitness with a new contract at the club, Goal.com report.
The Scotland international has battled illness since 2011, but has finally returned to the United side following successful surgery last year. His current contract expires at the end of next season, but the club are said to be interested in agreeing a new rolling contract with the Scot.
United boss David Moyes is expected to overhaul his squad in the summer and undergo a cull of his current underachieving squad likely to take place. However, despite United’s problems in central midfield areas, the former Everton boss is interested in handing a new contract to Fletcher and is to open talks soon.
The offer is reported to be on a similar wage to Fletcher’s current £60,000 per week deal, but will be a rolling 12 month extension.
Fletcher made his return to the side as a substitute against Aston Villa in December. He has since made a further five Premier League appearances for Moyes, including three starts.
Fletcher has made more passes and created more chances per 90 minutes played this season than Tom Cleverley, Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini.
