David Beckham retires from football

England footballer David Beckham has announced his retirement from football, bringing to an end a career that saw the midfielder play at clubs like Manchester United, Real Madrid, AC Milan, LA Galaxy and Paris Saint-Germain.

The 38-year old has arguably been the biggest name in football for over a decade now, with his looks and charm off the field grabbing as much acclaim as his abilities on it. However, Beckham finishes his playing career as the only Englishman to have won a league title in four different countries.

He also represented his country a massive 115 times, captaining the side on many an occasion.

Beckham, who helped PSG lift their first Ligue 1 title in 19 years last weekend, was offered a one-year contract extension by the Parisian club. However, he chose to bow out on a high, hanging up his boots close to a week after his Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson called it quits.
