David Beckham voted as the best player in the world by UK fans

David Beckham has been voted as the world’s greatest footballer in a poll by fans in the United Kingdom. Beckham won the poll with a healthy lead over Cristiano Ronaldo who came in second. Barcelona star and four time Ballon d’or winner Lionel Messi completed the top three.

The English icon managed to get 29% of the votes in a list which included big names like Gary Lineker, Pele, Zinedine Zidane and George Best. Runner up Ronaldo received 14% of the votes with Messi getting 12%.

Gary Lineker came in fourth position while Manchester United legend George Best secured the fifth spot. United star Wayne Rooney and Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard also found their way in the list with 9^th and 7^th positions respectively.
