David Beckham’s son Brooklyn has joined Queens Park Rangers’ academy, as he looks to carry his family’s name in the football world after his father announced his retirement from the beautiful game last weekend.
QPR acquired the junior Beckham for free and hope that he is as good as his father. Brooklyn had recently trained with Chelsea and was expected to join the London club at academy level.
The 14-year-old has trained with clubs like Tottenham and LA Galaxy in the past, and has openly admitted to be an Arsenal fan. However, it seems like geography played a major part in him signing for QPR as the club’s training ground is close to the Beckham residence.
After failing to stay in the Premier League for the upcoming season, QPR are desperate to improve their academy. Last month, the club was given the green signal to develop a new training ground that is scheduled to be completed by 2015.
