Although Manchester United haven’t had a very good campaign, David de Gea has managed to have a good season. The Spaniard rates the 2015-16 season as the best of his career. The goalkeeper has been one of the few players who’ve played to their full potential in a rather awful season. Manchester United have missed out on the UEFA Champions League twice in two years, which is a shame considering the fact that they had never found it tough to stay in the top four in the Alex Ferguson era. He believes that winning the FA Cup would somewhat make up for the horrible season they are having.
The Spanish international was on his way out of Manchester United last summer after having a brilliant season, though the move could never materialise due to a mishap regarding the transfer documents. He went on to win the Manchester United Player of the Year award for the 3rd consecutive time after his club’s troubled season at Old Trafford.
De Gea missed out on the Golden Glove award to former Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech when he conceded in the final minute of the campaign. The Spaniard, however, was also part of the PFA Team of the Year.

“It's been the best season of my career," he said. "I'm in great shape physically and mentally I'm very focused.
"If we win the FA Cup it will be a good season. We are all really keen to win such an important trophy for this club, our supporters and ourselves.
"We will fight to the end and do everything we can to win it."
De Gea implied that winning the FA Cup final against Crystal Palace would pave the path for further successes and silverware since the departure of legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson. He said: “We've had a couple of difficult seasons so we are really determined to win the cup”
He further added: “And winning it could provide us with that extra belief and motivation to hopefully go on and achieve great things.”
Manchester United haven’t won a trophy since they picked up the Premier League in 2013. Since then, they’ve had two managerial changes and no trophies to show for.
“In the Premier League, all teams can slip up against all kinds of opposition,” De Gea said. “It’s a very tough league, but it’s true we have lost games that we shouldn’t have, against teams that are on paper we should have been beating.
“But then we have won plenty of the very difficult games, too, and in that sense it has been a strange season”
It will be interesting to see if Real Madrid come back calling with another offer, which would test both Manchester United’s and De Gea’s resolve.
