David de Gea won the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year and the Players’ player of the year award at Manchester United’s annual awards. De Gea became only the fourth player in United’s history to win the award two times in a row, following the footsteps of Roy Keane, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Cristiano Ronaldo.
The 24-year-old has been magnificent for the Manchester club this season having kept 11 clean sheets this season. Playing behind an ever-changing defense, de Gea has been exceptional making 93 saves over the entire campaign. According to stats, the United defense have made 28 errors leading to shots. Out of the 28, de Gea has only conceded 3. He has a pass accuracy of 64.22 percent this season as well.
United manager, Louis van Gaal, awarded the trophy to the United shot-stopper was full of praise of the United number 1. "I’m very proud of you. You have developed yourself more than any other player at Manchester United. I agree with the voice of the fans. Congratulations you deserve it," van Gaal told the player.

The Spain international, who looked extremely pleased with the with award told MUTV, "Like the boss said before we have the best fans in the world and I want to say thank you to everyone. They are always behind us and travel everywhere - it’s fantastic for us.
"I am young and I try to improve in every training session and every game. Everyone always wants to improve and I think I have improved a lot."
Juan Mata won the goal of the season for his spectacular strike against Liverpool at Anfield. The other winners on the night were Andreas Pereira and Axel Tuanzebe winning the player of the year awards at the U21 and U18 levels respectively.
