David Moyes, who rather had a very short tenure at Manchester United than expected, admitted that he isn’t surprised with the recent revival of Marouane Fellaini, insisting his delight for the 27-year-old’s performances for the Red Devils.
Following his €32 million move from the Goodison Park to Old Trafford, Fellaini, the first major signing of the David Moyes era soon turned into a liability for the team, courtesy of a series of low-level performances.
However, fortune turned on for the Belgian midfielder under the managerial reign of Dutchman Louis van Gaal. With 6 goals and three Man of the Match awards in all competitions this season, Fellaini has proved to be a key player in the current United side.
"It was a big move for him, it was a big move following me and being the only signing made it even more difficult,” Moyes told the Express. "We wanted to bring in other players and the recruitment didn't work the way we wanted it to and, ideally, we wouldn't have made Fellaini our one and only signing if we could have helped it.
"But I am not surprised at Fellaini because I thought he had made a big impact on England over the years. He texts me quite regular and I always text him back and tell him how well he is doing and to keep going. I'm really pleased for him,” he added.
"He will not be everyone's cup of tea, but he can affect games and you want players who can affect games."
