After David Moyes and Ed Woodward failed miserably in failing to sign ‘established superstars’ during the summer transfer window, it seems normalcy has returned to United’s transfer philosophy. United have long been advocates of ‘making superstars rather than buying them’ philosophy. And their latest transfer target seems to indicate Moyes has started to believe that it might be the best way forward.
Various news reports suggest that Moyes is interested and is looking very closing at Polish teen sensation Karol Linetty. Linetty is a central midfielder who can also play in an advanced role. Linetty, sometimes hailed as the new Luka Modric plays for the Polish side Lech Poznan.
Lenetty has played for international football for Poland at various youth levels and is starting to feature on a regular basis for his club side. His small slight build and preference to play deep in the midfield have sparked comparisons with PSG’s Marco Verratti. He has come through the club’s youth system and has a contract with the club till June 2016.
Although a lot of clubs have been scouting the talented 18 year old, United seem to be the favorite to sign him for around £4 million, which could turn out to be a masterstroke if Linetty goes on to realize and fulfill his potential. But given the growing interest in him, united may have to dole out slightly more to sign the Polish prodigy.
