Arsene Wenger might be delighted as his January transfer target, David Villa, might actually not be staying in Barcelona for too long. The Catalans have admitted that they would not be keeping the striker.
Arsenal did try and sign the Spaniard in January, but Barcelona insisted that Villa was not for sale. But recently, the clubs officials have said that they will not keep Villa at Camp Nou if he does not want to stay.
Josep Maria Bartomeu, the Vice President of Barcelona, has said “The coaches hope he is here next season but we will not retain any player that is uncomfortable. In that case, we will talk to him to seek a solution.”
After recovering from broken leg injury, Villa has made only 22 appearances and scored 7 goals for Barcelona. Since his return, the Spaniard has struggled to find a place in the squad.
Sources report that Arsenal will do everything they can to acquire the Spanish marksman and bring him to the Emirates and this recent news could make things easier for the English side.
