Debatable Decisions SPL – Week 7

Simon
Scottish Premier League - Inverness CT vs Aberdeen

It’s Week 7 and the decisions are ticking on by, unfortunately they continue to be incorrect and despite being two judges down the team still find the power to find the referees guilty of four big incorrect decisions. Enjoy!

INVERNESS, SCOTLAND – SEPTEMBER 15: Cameron Smith of Aberdeen (L) scores during the Clydesdale Bank Scottish Premier League match between Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Aberdeen on September 15, 2012 in Inverness, Scotland.

Aberdeen – Motherwell

Frazer Penalty Shout

Simon – There is a brief moment of contact between defender and attacker, but Fraser goes down far too easily in what is simply a strong but fair challenge.

Gary – I think it’s a penalty, his foot his high, it’s dangerous play and I think he’s just caught him before he even makes contact with the ball.

Robert – Good defending and a good decision by the ref, Fraser was second to the ball but it was never a foul.

Overall Decision – Correct Decision

Law Penalty Shout

Simon – I can understand why the referee missed this as his view is blocked, but Law is quite clearly pulled back and prevented from challenging for the ball. A penalty should have been awarded.

Gary – Not for me this one, the Aberdeen defender’s hands are up, but the Motherwell man goes down far too easily.

Robert – An incorrect decision in this case, Osbourne definitely impeded Law’s run.

Overall Decision – Incorrect Decision

Kilmarnock v Celtic

KILMARNOCK, SCOTLAND – APRIL 07: Michael Nelson of Kilmarnock tackles Georgios Samaras of Celtic during the Scottish Clydesdale Bank Scottish Premier League match between Kilmarnock and Celtic at Rugby Park on April 7, 2012 in Kilmarnock, Scotland.

Kilmarnock – St Mirren

Killie Penalty Shout

Simon – It always baffles me that referees decide not to give these as Teale clearly brings down the Kilmarnock attacker having not won the ball. A definite penalty.

Gary – I think he ‘just’ gets the ball, and then the player falls over the defender’s body. So not a penalty for me.

Robert – No idea how the ref got this one so wrong. Teale never got any of the ball in the challenge and dragged the Killie player down. Inccorect decision.

Overall Decision – Incorrect Decision

Celtic – Dundee

Irvine Penalty Shout

Simon – Another case of a player going over before the challenge is even made, Irvine’s dive starts well before Izaguirre is even near him, and the referee called it right.

Gary – No, the Dundee man has played for it and if you pause it at the right time you see the Celtic player doesn’t put a leg out at all. Just a dive.

Overall Decision – Correct Decision

Celtic Penalty

Simon – The Dundee defender fairly clearly catches Lassad and a penalty was the right decision.

Gary – Yeah I think the ref probably got this one right, he’s nowhere near the ball and the Dundee defender’s feet get tangled a bit with the Celtic player and then he’s right up against him, followed by the other player coming towards him, just tackles him and doesn’t even know where the ball is!.

Overall Decision – Correct Decision

Dundee United – Hearts

Gunn Penalty Shout

Simon – I can’t decide whether the claim is for a push or for handball, as neither look worthy of a penalty to me, so the referee got it right.

Gary – Took me ages to decide on this one, I’d have to say it was a penalty, the Hearts defender is late in seeing the ball coming in and his hands all over the Dundee United captain and pushes him a bit in mid-air. So should have been a penalty

Robert – Looks like it rattled the Hearts player’s upper arm. Would have been harsh, but should have been a penalty.

Overall Decision – Incorrect Decision

Willo Flood Penalty Shout

Simon – Flood definitely gets impeded as he goes past the Hearts defender and should have had a penalty.

Gary – That’s a penalty, he’s touched it over and the defenders leg has came out and made contact.

Robert – Undeniable contact. Another incorrect penalty call from the ref.

Overall Decision – Incorrect Decision

Celtic v St Johnstone

GLASGOW, SCOTLAND – APRIL 01: Kris Commons (C) of Celtic and Frazer Wright of St Johnstone in action during the Scottish Clydesdale Bank Scottish Premier League match between Celtic and St Johnstone at Celtic Park on April 1, 2012 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Ross County – St Johnstone

Vine Red Card

Simon – Unfortunately the cameras failed to pick this incident up, so I cannot judge it and therefore it has to go down as a correct decision.

Gary – I just couldn’t see this one, tried to find better videos, but no luck.

Robert – Difficult to see, thanks to the camera angle. got to say the ref was correct in that case.

Overall Decision – Correct Decsion
