Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe's penalty miss headlined his side's 2-0 loss to Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, November 27. The Frenchman has received a lot of criticism from Los Blancos fans for his performances this season.
Eagle-eyed fans noticed a moment in the tunnel before the Spanish side came out for the second half when Mbappe was seemingly ignored by Jude Bellingham and Antonio Rudiger. One account on X (formerly Twitter) compared the incident to the infamous situation involving Karim Benzema and Vinicius Jr., where the Frenchman told Ferland Mendy to not pass the ball to the Brazilian.

"Everyone has to support him" - Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti after Kylian Mbappe's penalty miss against Liverpool
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has urged his squad to support Kylian Mbappe after the forward missed a penalty against Liverpool on Wednesday. The Frenchman had a chance to draw his side level from the penalty spot in the 61st minute, but his effort was saved by Caoimhin Kelleher.
Since arriving from Paris Saint-Germain this summer, the World Cup-winning forward has struggled to perform at the expected level for Los Blancos. In his last season with PSG, he scored 44 goals and 10 assists from 44 games.
Ancelotti believes the forward will come good for his new club eventually. He said (via GOAL):
"It has happened many times that forwards have a hard time scoring. There is a medicine which is to be patient. It is a difficult moment for him, especially after missing the penalty. Everyone has to support him. He may be a bit lacking in confidence. When things don't go your way, the idea you have to have is to play simple. It's a bit like this moment, but you can't judge him for missing a penalty. All players miss penalties. He has to keep working well. We have to be patient because he's an extraordinary player."
Kylian Mbappe will be keen to put his penalty miss against Liverpool behind him and return to his best form for Los Blancos in the coming games. He is contracted to the Spanish giants until the summer of 2029.
