London, Aug 31 (IANS/RIA Novosti):
England striker Jermain Defoe has signed a new deal with Tottenham Hotspur that will keep him at White Hart Lane until 2015, the club said Thursday.
Defoe, 29, made his 300th Tottenham appearance in a Premier League match against West Bromwich Albion last weekend.
“We are delighted to announce that Jermain Defoe has signed a new contract until 2015,” said the club in a website statement.
Defoe has scored 119 goals for the club since moving from West Ham United in 2004, the same year he made his debut for England, for whom he has 49 caps.
Tottenham finished fourth in the league last season, but failed to qualify for the Champions League after Chelsea received an automatic place as holders.
Ex-Chelsea coach Andre Villas-Boas took charge of the team last month, soon after Harry Redknapp’s contract expired.
