It is India’s oldest sports league, established way back in 1997 as National Football League and it is world’s most popular game – football. Thanks to commercial failures, despite all these ingredients desi football fans don’t even get to watch India’s very own I-League regularly.
India’s first private sports channel Zee Sports (now Ten Action) has been the broadcaster of I-League since 2004. Zee Sports had attempted to popularize domestic football in India with Hindi, Tamil and Bengali commentaries. This season Ten Action will air 75 I-League matches and 15 Federation Cup matches.On September 28, Asia’s oldest football club Mohan Bagan will face I-League holders and Goan giants Churchill Brothers. And on September 29, it’s India’s most successful club East Bengal against Durand Cup holders Mohammedan Sporting.
