Di Matteo confirms change in Chelsea's style!

Roberto Di Matteo speaking to the Official Magazine and featured on the Official Website, has given a clear indication of the way he wants his Chelsea team to play football this season and personally, I can’t wait for the season to get started!.

As we all know with the signings we have made, Chelsea’s style looks to be changing with the likes of Hazard, Marin and Oscar signing this summer in addition to our player of the year, Juan Mata to play in the attacking positions behind the striker.

Like many of you, I am wondering if we will see Chelsea play with a new sense of freedom with flair, the quick passing game, making it difficult to man mark?

Di Matteo seems to be thinking that way as he said:

‘I think moving between the lines and rotation can be an attacking threat for us. We had only Juan Mata playing that role last year, although Raul Meireles played there a few times as well.

It just gives us more options for the team. It makes us more difficult to be marked and more unpredictable .

However, we also need width in the game, so it’s not just always coming between the lines, it’s about giving width to the team as well.

(Source)Now as I have said before on here, Marko Marin is the only player who has said outright that he would prefer playing out wide with the option to cut inside.

However, we also know that Eden Hazard and Juan Mata are more than capable of doing the same. Whether Oscar will be asked to move outside is another thing because it seems out of all of them, he will remain in the middle of the pitch.

For me, the only thing about pre-season is the fact that it seems to drag on forever. This pre-season seems to be even worse because I really can’t wait to see the new Chelsea take shape with the signings we have made and to see just how RDM will change our style with the new boys!
