What an amazing job Roberto Di Matteo has done at Chelsea since taking over in March! He has done so well that it hasn’t made AVB look good at all making us all wonder, what was he doing?
He has taken Chelsea to two finals. Who thought this would have been possible with the current set of players? When Chelsea played Aston Villa and Villa equalised, a lot of the media said he was tactically inept and was only good when things were going right. I don’t think so! 2-0 down to Barcelona at the Nou Camp with 10 men and no CB’s and Chelsea get a draw and went through to the Champions League final. That doesn’t sound tactically inept to me.
Chelsea’s fixture schedule has been hectic and he has still managed to do so well. Since he took over, he has just got on with his job quietly and managed the team in the very best way. He is an amazing man manager and has set Chelsea up for an amazing end to the season.
So why would Chelsea go out and get an expensive over paid manager and then sack him in a few months time? Why not stick with RDM? If he hasn’t achieved what the board expect by the end of next season, then look at bringing in Pep or someone of the calibre. But for now, I say stick with RDM.
So don’t you think RDM is a contender for the job now? He certainly is with the bookies and by quite a way, but what do they know!
He has had so many high profile players to deal with and they clearly love and respect RDM. Drogba, Lampard and Cole haven’t kicked up a fuss when they have been left on the bench.
Just imagine what he could do with a refreshed squad? Everyone said that AVB was very clever and tactically minded, but that doesn’t matter when you are not a good man manager. Up till now RDM has shown both man management skills and the tactical skills. He has changed the way Chelsea play depending on the team and clearly does his homework.
So what do you think? Keep him or get another manager? If another manager, then who would you get?
