Soon-to-be Chelsea forward Diego Costa was apparently forced into signing for the Blues due to an agent agreement, despite wanting to stay in Spain with Atletico Madrid, according to the Daily Star.
The Spain striker, who won La Liga with Atletico last season, is expected to complete his move to Chelsea over the next few days with the Blues keen to finalise the transfer before the World Cup starts.
According to reports, Costa previously allowed his representative, Jorge Mendes, to sign a deal which would see him move to Stamford Bridge this summer.
But the deal also included a penalty clause for Costa, understood to be several million euros, if the move failed to be completed.
The report also claims Costa had doubts over a move to Chelsea and was hopeful of agreeing a new contract with the La Liga champions, who also reached the Champions League final.
Another suggestion in the reports is that Jose Mourinho heard of Costa’s unhappiness with the deal so pressed forward on signing two of his closest friends at Atletico, Filipe Luis and Tiago.
Luis is reportedly set to join Chelsea for around £20 million after Atletico signed his replacement in Guilhermo Siqueira earlier this week.
