Diego Simeone believes it is too early to talk about Atletico Madrid being title contenders

Diego Simeone has done a stellar job with Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid are flying high in La Liga this season, currently lying second, just one point behind leaders Barcelona. Diego Costa is in super form and is the leading scorer in La Liga ahead of both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

However, Atletico’s Argentine coach Diego Simeone, believes that it is too early to start talking about his team being contenders for the title.

The club has suffered just one loss in their opening 11 games so far, but Simeone believes in taking it one match at a time and is choosing to focus on each upcoming match rather than get ahead of themselves.

“[The fixture list] is hard. We’re putting in a huge effort. Keeping on winning and winning is hard.”
