Brazil international midfielder Diego has been touting himself for a move to the Premier League, claiming that it would be the “ideal destination” for him and playing up talk of interest from Arsenal and Southampton. In an interview with The Sun, the Wolfsburg midfielder also described playing in the Premier League as an “attractive option,” as he looks to secure a move from Wolfsburg.
The former Juventus man is a free agent at the end of the season, and suggested that Premier League clubs had already begun sniffing around.
“I know there is interest from Premier League clubs. I have heard Arsenal is one of them.
“It would be the ideal destination for me because their style suits my characteristics perfectly. Of course I would say yes to Arsenal.
Diego also welcomed interest from this season’s surprise package – Southampton – saying:
“Southampton have great organisation and discipline and big talents like Adam Lallana. But again there is nothing concrete.”
“Playing in England is a very attractive option at the peak of my career but I’m focusing on helping Wolfsburg get to the Champions League.”
Diego has been in good form this season, creating 30 chances for a Wolfsburg side that currently sit fifth in the Bundesliga.
Diego currently sits third in the Bundesliga in terms of completed take-ons, this is more than Lionel Messi (46).
