Samuel Eto’o has refused to comment on remarks made by Jose Mourinho in the week in which the Chelsea manager made derogatory remarks about his strike-force and questioning Eto’o’s age.
Mourinho was furious a private conversation was broadcast to the general public, while Eto’o was reportedly seething according to his former manager with Cameroon, Claude Le Roy.
But Eto’o has instead insisted that there is nothing in the story and that he maintains a ‘great friendship’ with the Chelsea boss and joked that he can continue scoring goals ‘until I’m 50?.
Eto’o told Sky Sports: “I am Samuel Eto’o, to disturb me will take much more than this. I know my place and I won’t reply.
“I would have liked to be in the starting XI (against Galatasaray) so I’m disappointed to be on the bench, but I respect the choice of the coach.
“I came to Chelsea mainly because of Jose, because we have a great friendship.
“Things happen in life and you have to face them. But it doesn’t change the player I am and the career I’ve had.
“You want me to cause trouble by revealing all of my thoughts. I want us to go as far as possible in this competition (the Champions League) and in peace.”
