Djibril Cisse’s son, Cassius, has rejected Liverpool, Everton and Manchester United in favour of signing for Crewe Alexandra, who have a famous youth system.
Cisse, who won the Champions League with Liverpool in 2005, has had stints all around Europe with Lazio, Marseille, Auxerre, Kuban Krasnodar and Queens Park Rangers.
His eight-year-old son was offered the chance to follow in his footsteps and sign for Liverpool, but he chose to join League One Crewe instead.
His mother posted a picture of Cassius signing his contract on her Instagram page.
She wrote next to the picture: ”I proudly watched this little man sign his 1st professional contract last night. It has been an intense few months travelling between 3 elite academies.
“It was an extremely tough decision to help him make with him being so young & The most important factor is that he enjoys it & as a result Cassius made HIS choice to sign with Crewe Alex.
“We are extremely grateful to LFC, MUFC & EFC for all the time they have invested in Cassius which has all helped him progress to this day & hope their support will continue.”
The Red Devils may recover from the snub, though, as it has recently emerged that Man United have submitted the bid for Roma’s Kevin Strootman.
