Dortmund, April 3 (IANS) Ahead of their high-voltage clash with Bayern Munich on Saturday, Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp said their league position is not his biggest concern when the two German football clubs meet.
Borussia Dortmund is currently placed tenth with 33 points from 29 matches in Bundesliga standings, whereas Bayern Munich reign at the top of the points table with 64 points from 26 games.
"Although we're tenth, and although there's a huge points gap between us, and although a lot is different compared to the past, it's still a Borussia Dortmund home game, Klopp said on Friday.
"I don't recall us gifting any of these games in the past. Gladbach have shown us how it's done. VFL Wolfsburg has also beaten them, but it's not all that easy," he said.
Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich have shared the last five Bundesliga titles between them and Bayern are set to continue their domestic domination this term.
"We've got to try to beat Bayern and where that can take us in the league is secondary," the 47-year-old coach said.
Victory would nevertheless be important for Dortmund if they are to close the gap on the top six and qualify for European football next season, while a second consecutive defeat for Bayern will allow VFL Wolfsburg to reduce the deficit at the top to seven points.
